Audio Workflow

From raw production audio to a polished cinematic soundtrack.

Every film arrives at a different stage of production, but the process of shaping its soundtrack follows a clear workflow. At Hatiwave Studios, we take your project through a structured audio post-production pipeline designed to clean, build and refine the sound of your film while staying true to the story.

1. Project Review

We begin by reviewing the current cut of your film along with the production audio and any reference material provided. This allows us to assess the dialogue quality, identify potential challenges, and understand the creative direction of the project.

2. Dialogue Restoration

Production dialogue is cleaned and repaired to ensure clarity and consistency. This stage removes unwanted noise, balances levels and prepares the dialogue as the foundation of the soundtrack.

3. Sound Design

Custom sound design is created to support the tone, world and emotional beats of the film. This may include environmental ambience, subtle textures, and impactful sound effects that enhance the narrative.

4. Foley & Detail

Foley elements such as footsteps, movement and physical interactions are added where needed. These subtle details help bring realism and depth.

5. Sonic Embellishment

Beyond basic Foley, we enhance key moments with additional sonic layers that heighten the audience’s emotional experience. Subtle textures, low-frequency movement, and carefully placed design elements can transform a simple action on screen into something that feels larger, heavier, or more intense.

Our goal isn’t just to replicate what is happening visually, it’s to make the audience feel it. These embellishments help reinforce tension, impact and atmosphere, allowing the soundtrack to support the emotional weight of each scene.

6. Music & Score Integration

Where required, original music can be composed or existing score material integrated into the mix. Music is balanced carefully against dialogue and sound design to support the emotional arc of the film.

7. Final Mix

All elements — dialogue, sound design, Foley and music — are balanced together in the final mix, ensuring clarity, depth and cinematic impact across playback systems.

8. Mix Review & Refinement

Once the first full mix is complete, we provide a review version for the director or production team. This stage allows for feedback, adjustments and creative refinements to ensure the soundtrack aligns perfectly with the vision of the film.

Dialogue balance, music levels, atmosphere and impact moments can all be fine-tuned during this process. Our goal is to collaborate with filmmakers until the sound feels right for the story.

9. Delivery

Final masters are prepared according to the needs of your project. This may include stereo mixes, surround formats, stems and alternate masters for different distribution platforms.
